Greg Smith, Head of School

From: Australia

Education: B.A. in Education, Edith Cowan University, Western Australia; M.Ed. Educational Administration, Edith Cowan University, Western Australia

Years in Education: 35

Other Schools: Multiple schools in Western Australia; International School of Beijing, China; Vientiane International School, Lao PDR

Hello. I am excited to be joining the leadership team at SIS because the school is international in outlook, committed to continuous improvement, and is fundamentally built on a strong community. These are elements that I believe make a school effective and able to provide great education for students. I am looking forward to working with a group of innovative and professional educators, and a supportive engaged community. I have too many years to count under my belt as a school administrator and teacher. Thankfully this wonderful career keeps me young. I have most recently been involved in founding and operating a school services company in my home country, Australia for the past two years, and can't wait to get back into schools again. My children both graduated from international schools, and my wife is a teacher so I fully appreciate the benefits of being part of the SIS community.

Michelle Collin, Director of Advancement

From: Australia

Education: BA in Asian Studies (Japanese and Economics), The University of Sydney, NSW, Australia

I am very excited to be a part of the SIS Administration commencing in August 2018. I grew up on the international circuit with my family following my father’s career with Royal Dutch Shell, living in Brunei, Australia, the Middle East and the United Kingdom. After graduating from high school in Australia, I took a gap year in Japan, where I focused on learning the Japanese language and culture. Later, I continued my Japanese studies at the University of Sydney, graduating with a major in Japanese language and Economics. My professional career has brought me to live and work in various countries including Australia, Malaysia, Singapore, Germany, the United States, Japan, Belgium and China, which is where my family and I have called home for over 10 years. Previously I worked in various leadership and communication roles in SAP, Concordia International School Shanghai and the Benelux Chamber of Commerce in China. My Belgian husband, Hendrik, and our two children Hannah (Grade 11) and Remi (Grade 4) moved to Shenzhen in 2015. We have enjoyed being a part of the SIS community since then. Through this opportunity to be a part of a new initiative in SIS, working with such a talented faculty, and international community, whilst connecting SIS with my extensive professional network within the Shenzhen business community, I hope to establish varied opportunities and authentic, real-world experiential learning for our students, beyond the boundaries of the classroom.
