SIS FIRST Lego League teams were invited by our own SIS dad, Olaf Steinke, the CTO at TUV Rheinland, Shenzhen, to tour their testing facility.

The grade seven students traveled to Yangshuo, Guangxi this year during our annual Week Without Walls trip. The students had a wonderful time making memories while developing new friendships with their peers.

Grade 11 students and advisors experienced different tastes, sights, sounds, and cultures on their Week Without Walls trip to Sabah, Malaysia.

The Grade 9 Week Without Walls trip was a fantastic week of activity and cultural learning near Qingyuan. The activities throughout the program created a holistic understanding about China through unique experiences for all.

61 students and 6 teachers headed through the border to Hong Kong last Tuesday morning. Overall, this trip was a huge success.

The Grade 10 students had an educational and rewarding trip to Lijiang and Shaxi in Yunnan Province. They spent their week in wide variety of physical activities, community service, and cultural exploration.

The grade 8 trip was short, but full of substance. All students feel as a big grade 8 family and understand the importance of all they can achieve when they work together.

For the past two weeks, Grade 2 students have been started their Unit of Inquiry "How do we Organize ourselves." Processes have been a central part of this unit, and the scientific and design process were both introduced.

Halloween is always an exciting day of fun activities at SIS! Students, teachers, and parents all get involved with wearing costumes, playing Halloween themed games, and participating in a parade around the sports field.

Tuesday morning, our grades 2 and 3 parents had an opportunity to experience a math mini lesson so that they could understand how math is taught at SIS.

Grade 5 has been studying civilizations. Based on their research, the students had to create a Keynote presentation describing the best way to form a civilization.

The Dancing Snails have enjoyed building their own house with the big blocks in our classroom. To extend their interest and knowledge in this area we have begun to read stories that feature houses in them.

We had thirteen fourth and fifth grade students step up to the courageous task of campaigning for student council (STUCO). Five students were elected on Friday, September 15th.
