This year Kindergarten launched their family unit with a fun filled dance and luncheon on our beautiful playground. The students worked diligently on learning a song about family members in preparation. The theme was a disco dance and many dressed in flashy colors and sparkles that shown in the sun while families gathered and had a light hearted feast while some brave students and parents danced together with friends.
It was a delightful way to begin our focus on family, individuals and our place in our greater communities. Throughout this month and next, we will examine family roles, the traditions that make our families unique and build strong bonds, as well as what children can do to contribute at home, in the classroom and the community.
We are blessed to belong to such a wonderful community here at SIS. I am thankful for each of my students and recognize their special qualities. They each come from caring families who are involved and devoted to their child’s growth and education, I am so grateful for all of them. We foster this kind of gratitude through our focus on ESLR’s in these lessons. This keeps the children focused on how they can be kind and share, work together to help others, and try their best in all that they do. This family unit helps us to extend into more global citizenry discussions and we look forward to it.
