PSA would like to thank each and every one of you for taking the time to donate to Box of Hope this holiday season. Box of Hope is an annual charity project aimed at providing useful and educational gifts to underprivileged children in Asia. This year, SIS was fortunate to participate in this charity and delivered smiles and hope to children in 3 different orphanages in Shenzhen, Guangzhou and Huazhou. Children who received the boxes ranged in age from newborn to 14 years old. This was a wonderful opportunity for our SIS students to help other children who may have never received a gift before.
A lot of work went into the organization of this event to arrive at this wonderful end result. This year, Cortina Shoe Company generously donated 500 new shoe boxes for this cause. PSA volunteers distributed those boxes at Jingshan and Bayside campuses over 2 days in November. Students were able to choose a box for either a boy or girl and the age of the child they wished to support. Students then filled their box with toiletry items, educational items and special toys for their chosen child, wrapped their box and wrote message to their child. Completed boxes were dropped off at our Winter Bazaar on December 3rd or back at school on December 4th and 5th. In all, we received approximately 400 completed boxes back from both Jingshan and Bayside campuses! Once all the boxes were returned, PSA volunteers got to work and spent and additional 2 days organizing all the boxes by age and gender, safety checking the boxes and making sure each box contained the required items for each of the age groups in need. They wrapped unwrapped boxes and divided them between the three orphanages. Volunteers then personally delivered boxes to Shenzhen and Guangzhou orphanages and couriered the rest of the boxes to the orphanage in Huazhou. As you can see in the pictures below, the children were extremely happy and thankful to receive these gifts from you!
We sincerely thank you for helping make the holiday a little brighter for so many children in need.
