For the past couple of weeks, grade 5 students have been researching different civilizations in history. They used this information on great civilizations like the Romans, the Greeks, the Aztec, the Sumerians, the Maya, the Inca with the purpose of creating a keynote presentation to advise a group of nomads as to how to create a successful and long-lasting civilization.
The result of the students’ research, paired with their creativity and use of eLearning tools, was nothing short of amazing! Students reminded nomads about the basic needs of a civilization as well as stated their importance for survival. They encouraged a strong government structure and equal education for all the members of these imaginary societies. They also used their presentation skills where they spoke to audiences of different ages, as well as their classmates, and peer assessed each other’s presentations.
What a way to end such an exciting and interesting social studies unit! Well done grade 5!
