Early Childhood Center Partners with Parents

The early childhood years mark the start of a significant transition for our youngest students from home to school. Parents, as each child's first and most important teacher, are our valued partners in their growth and learning.
Last week, the ECC sponsored a few events that celebrated our partnership with parents. On Friday morning, our "Learning Comes Alive" event welcomed parents into our classrooms to actively join in their children's learning. Parents experienced Exploration and Learning Circle Time, and noticed the significant social, emotional and cognitive growth in their children.
During the "ECC Coffee & Conversation" that followed, parents joined the program director to talk about early child development and the significance of this period of time in a child's life, especially as it relates to their brain development, their sense of self, and building their emotional and cognitive foundations for their future schooling. Studies show that a positive early childhood schooling experience and relationships have predictable and lasting impact though out each child's school years.
On Friday evening, evidence of our strong partnership with parents continued to shine with our first ECC-PSA Family Movie and Popcorn Night. This family event was sponsored by our wonderful and dedicated ECC-PSA Committee. A group of nearly 300 ECC students, their brothers and sisters, and parents, joined to watch "The Good Dinosaur" and enjoy fresh popcorn.
Each of these events builds our partnership with parents, a partnership that will continue through our students' years here at SIS.
