At SIS our libraries foster a culture of readership, which studies have shown improve communication skills, test scores and overall empathy. With that in mind, on March 15, the Bayside Library selected sixteen middle school students to compete in book trivia against 7 other international schools at Nansha College Preparatory Academy (NCPA) to meet like minded reader-enthusiasts. The SIS teams did very well, as first-time participants, placing in the top 5. Amongst the competitors were schools such as American International School of Guangzhou (AISG), the British School of Guangzhou, and International School of Dongguan (ISD). This event is the result of a collaboration between 8 schools, and was a great success!
This event is a perfect model for students to see how institutions can come together, design, plan and successfully execute a project involving hundreds of participants.
