Students from Shekou International School have been working in partnership with Tencent to develop video game characters for the hit game League of Legends. League of Legends is currently the most popular game in the world with more than 27 million players connecting on a daily basis.
For the past few weeks, six students have been participating in regular visits to Tencent HQ where they have been working alongside video game animators and character designers. During the sessions they have been exploring key elements of design, animation and even the storytelling associated with creating a successful video game. They've also had the opportunity to work with industry standard development and animation tools in a true production environment.
This experience has been an eye opener for both the students and designers alike. One student commented, "This is a once in a life-time opportunity! Who would ever normally let a student create characters for their real video game?". Tencent designers have also been amazed at the quality of work been produced by Shekou International School students.
Though they're only halfway through their character development, it's highly likely there will be some new hero's and villains appearing in League of Legends soon. Watch this space for more from Shekou International School students around Shenzhen.
