SIS faculty and staff are committed to professional learning in a collaborative setting. Coming from over 14 different countries, each member of our 140 strong staff brings a unique perspective when sharing ideas on teaching and learning. All of our staff are certified teachers with a majority having attained a post secondary credential. Dedicated to improving the experience of our student body, SIS teachers strive to share their best practices with each other. This occurs both informally with regular dialogue, or formally, during teacher-led professional learning days.
Our professional community also devotes time to share innovative teaching and learning throughout the international community. Teachers regularly present their craft at conferences such as Learning2, EARCOS, 21st Century Learning and NCTE. SIS also hosts conferences such as Learning with the iPad, Create, the EAL Conference and the IPEC conference, bringing in educators from around the region.
Our faculty are committed to sharing what students are learning in classes. Teacher blogs are featured on our Share Center, and the #SISRocks twitter feed is full of examples of great student learning curated by our classroom teachers.
This year, collaboration at SIS has increased immensely, each PL day consists of a variety professional sharing from staff members based upon teacher interest.
