What a season our First Lego League (FLL) teams had! The Hydro-Bots and the Rock'N Robots just competed in the last tournament of the year in Shanghai where both teams shined and deserve congratulations. The Hydro-Bots placed 2nd in the research project category and were the only team from Shenzhen to win an award. 42 teams from international schools around China competed in the two day event. The Hydro-Bots even received special recognition during the awards ceremony form tournament organizer Barbara Boyer. On the morning of the competition the Hydro-Bots discovered that critical attachments to the robots that would allow the robots to complete the mission had gone missing. Showing resilience in the face of adversity, the team pulled together and rebuilt the mission critical pieces. Click on the videos below to see the Hydro-Bots compete and receive recognition.
Although the Rock'N Robots did not place, they showed true sportsmanship and cheered their fellow FLL team to victory. They embodied the spirit of competition and were winners in our minds. Both teams from SIS won awards at the regional tournament in Guangzhou in early November which prepared them for the competition in Shanghai.A special thanks to all the coaches and parents who participated throughout the season. In particular, we would like to thank Coaches Kathy and Rudy Diaz for encouraging and motivating our students and igniting a passion in all the participants. It isn't often you see a student asking to come to school on a Saturday.Great job Kathy!
