PreK2 students loved their first field trip to the SIS Bayside campus. In preparation for our visit, we read the Dr. Seuss book, The Sneetches and discussed similarities and differences. On the day of the field trip, the children could not wait to visit Bayside. We rode the bus to Bayside, meeting up with the 7th grade students. The 7th graders took the PreK students by the hand, leading them to their classroom. Once settled, the performance began. The PreK2 students were so captivated by the 7th graders' recital of the story. Following the performance, the students watched the film version of The Sneetches while eating a marshmallow treat.
This was a great opportunity to extend our school community and make connections about our school. Many of the 7th graders who performed have visited Mountainside for Life Skills or to help with P.E. It was great to see the younger children recognize the older students who visit our class.
Thank you to all the Grade 7 teachers and students for making our first field trip such a great experience!
