G5 students practiced to say a series of sentences in a logical way. They were divided into different groups with 3 to 4 students. The teacher gave them a certain topic, and they collaborated to say sentences which have a beginning, middle and an end. For example, “Sing”. One group shared their sentences. “I like singing very much, so I joined the choir. I met Brenda. She’s also in the choir. Both Brenda and I like singing and we sing all the time. I like singing more and more.”
Students engaged in these activities, and they used the vocabulary and sentence pattern learned in Chinese class. They applied the old words in new sentences. They tried to create their sentences, not only a sentence, but a logical paragraph!
