Last Friday, ECLC 1 children got all dressed up and had their winter concert. Firstly, we would like to thank all the families that turned up to this great event that is a real celebration of how far each child has come. The SPAH was filled with many happy children and families and there was a real sense of community.
In preparation for the event, the four ECLC 1 classes practiced their class songs within their own classrooms. Children prepared their own costumes and made decorations to decorate the SPAH on the night and then in final days before the event we began preparing the children for what the event would involve. For young children it is a very big step to separate from Mummy and Daddy to go and get dressed up and then to perform in front of many other families on stage. To prepare our children for this big step three mornings last week we went to the SPAH and performed in front of each other. We also talked about where we would get ready and how our families would be waiting and be very excited to see us sing and dance. This preparation led to a very successful evening.
At the actual event, each class had their own performance and then the whole ECLC 1 group gathered on stage and sang, “Santa Claus is Coming to Town”. After this song who should enter the SPAH but Santa Claus himself and boy were the children excited. Each class had a turn to go and sit on Santa’s knee and receive a gift. We are very thankful that Santa could take time out of his busy schedule and come and bring smiles to our children’s faces. After the performances families were invited to enjoy a potluck dinner and mingle among themselves.
Thank you to everyone that came along and made this event such a successful evening. Well done ECLC 1 children for your great performances.
