ECC Field Day was a year-end celebration of our youngest athletes' physical development and gross motor skill mastery. Running and skipping, balancing and spinning, kicking, throwing and catching - these whole body movements that come so easily later in life can be quite challenging for young children. Throughout the school year, ECC students participated in weekly PE classes where we created opportunities for them to experience and develop these skills in fun, developmentally appropriate ways. These experiences develop their physical skills, but more significantly, build each child's self confidence, independence, and resiliency. And on ECC Field Day, we saw it all! For two hours, our students rotated through 12 activity stations including an obstacle course, sponge throw, long jump, and dance.
ECC Field Day was a whole SIS-community effort. The rotations were designed by our PE Consultant from Bayside Campus, Ms. Meaghan Wilson, and organized by our middle and high school students. The students were cheered on by our parents and elementary students. When it was all done, the ECC athletes enjoyed frozen treats provided by our PSA.
Many thanks to all for making this such a wonderful experience, and a hearty congratulations to our young ECC athletes!
