The Association for Music in International Schools (AMIS) had representation by 3 very talented SIS music students this year. The High school International Band and Orchestra Festival was held in Doha Qatar. Students were selected by audition that includes international schools around the world representing six continents. Luke Shr was selected on cello. Iris Lee and Tiffany Shr were selected by audition for the Asian Middle School Honor Orchestra held in Shanghai.
Developing an artistic identity, to see ones self as a musician allows us new ways to look at the world and at our experiences. The growth of the artistic mind, with the intellectual and emotional components that allow students to see themselves as creative and engaged individuals, is the product that we see onstage at the culmination of an AMIS festival. The AMIS experience is a truly remarkable experience for students and educators alike.
