Another amazing year with the PE department at SIS!
With the fall holiday behind us I would like to share with you what the students have been working on in the first PE units. There have been many exciting things happening in PE !
During the first week we focused on familiarizing students with our expectations as well as playing some team building games. It is important for us that students share feelings of belonging to the their class and demonstrate a caring attitude toward each other.
During September and October students worked on two units, a swimming and a balls unit. Your child has developed the whole spectrum of skills working with many types of balls, such as passing, throwing, kicking, catching and dribbling. Grades 4-5 students learned specific basketball skills through game like situations.
In the water, students worked on different types of aquatic skills. Kindergarten and grade 1 worked on confidence in the water, basic floatations skills and submerging under the water. With the older students the main focus was on the development of stroke technique. (freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke).
