That’s right! 10th grade has recently completed a project analyzing WWII propaganda in the form of cartoons. Many of the most memorable and influential propaganda pieces released during WWII were made in cartoon format to show during the breaks in movies. After watching a couple of cartoons in class, the students found their own online, performed a source analysis on them, and then presented them to the class.
We then tweaked the presentations by having the students select important images from the cartoons in order to make a collage poster, which they then tagged with a QR code linking directly to the video. This way, anyone passing by with a mobile device can simply scan the code and watch the video in a few seconds! Please do drop by the 3rd floor Humanities wing at Bayside to check out the students’ work, or you can view an article on this project at SIS’s Learning Innovation Blog at innovation.sis.org.cn.
