9th Graders Channel the Bard
Posted 04/09/2014 03:06PM

As part of the new English curriculum, our 9th graders are studying Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. For their first assessment they created an original script which effectively summarized a section of the play using modern language. They then performed their scripts for the class using various performance techniques including full-costumed productions and puppetry.

For their next project they have chosen a scene from the play and are editing it to create an abridged version while keeping Shakespeare’s original language. They will soon record and publish a podcast of their scene complete with background music and sound effects. Keep checking twitter #sisrocks and “Dowty Dialogues” Facebook page for more amazing 9th grade work!
